Computer Network Icon Design The interconnection of set-off devices (or nodes) such as printers, computers, scanners, etc., through a communication link, is called a Computer Network. The device must be capable of sending or receiving information from other nodes connected within the network. Networks use a distributed type of processing wherein, multiple computers share the work for accomplishing the task. Based on the size, networks are categorized into LAN, WAN, PAN, MAN, WLAN, and CAN.

Wide Area Network (WAN) spans a very large area that comprises a country, a continent, or even the whole world.

Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) is a network similar to LAN, but large than LAN and smaller than WAN. The area covered by a MAN is up to a city, which might be either privately or publicly utilized. A MAN can support data and voice.

A personal Area Network (PAN) is a network arranged inside a unique individual, ordinarily inside the scope of 10 meters. Computer devices used to develop the personal area network are laptops, mobile phones, media players, and play stations.
